Wake Up Call

271 Days. That is how many days I have been putting myself first.

I started practicing The Miracle Morning in November of 2020. According to my meditation app, I have meditated 271 days since November. But it so much more than just meditating. It is showing up every day and making conscious decisions on how I want to start my day. I wake up between 5:00 am and 5:30 am, drink a full glass of water, brush my teeth, get dressed in my workout clothes and go to a quiet room to start my day. Doing this is not easy for me. I love sleep. I need my sleep. But I also believe in being the best that I can for myself, my family, and my business.

Once I settle onto the couch, I start my SAVERS. Silence (meditation), Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, and Scribe (writing). If you haven’t read or listened to The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod, I highly recommend it (https://miraclemorning.com/). I guess you could say it changed my life!

I have also found some apps to help me with my morning practice. This is how my morning SAVERS routine usually goes:

SILENCE – First, I spend at least 10 minutes meditating with the “Unplug” app.

AFFIRMATIONS – Next, I listen to my affirmations in my own voice recorded and played back with music using the “ThinkUp” app.

VISUALIZATION – For visualization, I created a photo album in my pictures app on my phone and play it back using “Play Memory Movie”. My phone will shuffle the pictures in the album and show them to me in a movie to music.

EXERCISE – My favorite part of my morning is probably my workout. I have been using the “Beachbody on Demand” app throughout the pandemic. $99 a year for the entire Beachbody library. Many workouts are only 30 minutes long and they have programs to follow from 3 weeks up to 100 days. I don’t have to think about what I want to do for my workout, I just follow the schedule and do the next workout in the series. (https://www.beachbodyondemand.com)

WRITING – One of the proudest moments for me over the last 8 months is that I filled an entire journal with my writing. I have started many journals but never completed one. Looking back over my writing, it is wonderous to read my thoughts from just a few months before. It has also helped to clear my head and get me ready to start the day. I finish each entry with a daily gratitude list.

READING – Finally, I spend about 20 to 30 minutes reading. I have many business books, especially sales books sitting on my table. These books inspire, teach, and help me focus for business and life.

This all sounds like it would take a long time to complete. How many hours do I spend every morning completing my Miracle Morning? Usually 1.5 to 2 hours to finish all the SAVERS. When I am done … I feel so accomplished! So grounded and ready to tackle my day. After the first week, I actually started looking forward to getting up so early. It is my time to take care of me. No one asking me for anything or bothering me.

I am sharing this now because it has had such a positive impact on my life and my business. Please reach out if you want to learn more, ask questions, or need an accountability partner. I started it as a challenge. Now I am hooked. Want to start? Tomorrow is a new day. Wake up and seize the day! You can do it!
